CHAPTER 1: NEVSEHIR IN CAPPADOCIA - ''THE LAND OF BEAUTIFUL HORSES"

Nevsehir in Cappadocia is one of the most popular and famous tourist destinations in the world and Nevsehir has a lot of the Fairy chimney rocks consisting of many natural formations.

Nevsehir is a historical tourist destination and is located in the center of the Anatolian Region of Turkey. Cappadocia is a regional name and a Province of Turkey. The word “Cappadocia” means the land of beautiful horses. This region has five cities. These are; Nevsehir, Kirsehir, Kayseri, Aksaray and Nigde. Nevsehir is more popular than other cities because a large part of the Fairy Chimney Rocks are in this city.

Nevsehir has rich natural beauty and historical value. It has hosted many civilizations. The history of the Cappadocia region goes back to the paleolithic period. This region first hosted the Hitit civilization, then the Romans who became Christian. After many wars in the region, the Kingdom of Cappadocia was established in 32 BE. Towards the end of the 3rd century BE, the strength of the Romans began to be felt. In 17 AD, when the last King of Cappadocia (Archelaus) died, the region became a province of Rome. Cappadocia was conquered by the Seljuk Turks in the 11th and 12th centuries. The Ottoman Empire dominated this region until 1923 when Ataturk established The Republic of Turkey (Wikipedia.com, 2020)

Nevsehir has a fascinating natural environment: it has natural structures that can’t be seen anywhere else in the world - the Fairy Chimney Rocks. In addition, a large part of the Fairy Chimney Rocks are in Nevsehir. The Fairy Chimney Rocks were formed by erosion. Erosion formed the volcanic tuff over millions of years. The tuff was from volcanic eruptions from Mountain Hasan and Mountain Erciyes. These the Fairy Chimney Rocks took shape millions of years ago (Nationalgeographic.com, 2020).  Therefore, these natural structures are very important for the region and well protected by the people who manage the region. For hundreds of years, people have dug into the soft but firm volcanic tuff to create dwellings, monasteries, churches, and underground cities (Goturkey.com, 2020).

We have one more chapter for this beautiful place. See you next chapter dear readers...

MY EUROPEAN TOUR: EYOBUS 2017 (A Short Article)

I’ve always loved to travel and see new places in my life. I was searching for a European Tour while I was studying at University but the tour prices were too expensive for me, so I made a promise to myself that I was going to save money when I started work to go on this tour. I saved money to go on this tour from when I started working at the hotel. When I applied for the tour, I asked my brother if he wanted to come with me and my brother said he wanted to come and join me so he applied, too. Before the tour started, I’d searched and studied about all stroll the countries and cities included in this tour. Because I’d prepared a trip program (schedule a stroll) to visit many places in a shorter time, we were very excited when the tour started.

Our tour started from Istanbul to Greece by bus. We met friends traveling with us from Istanbul to Greece and we had fun along the way. Then we felt very tired so we closed our eyes and after a few minutes, we fell asleep. When we woke up, the tour bus had arrived in Thessaloniki. I was really started to believe in this European tour because this tour was one of my dreams coming time. I was very happy to include my brother in this dream. We visited 18 countries and 21 cities by bus. The countries and cities we were visited;

1.     Greece – Thessaloniki
2.     Serbia – Belgrade
3.     Austria – Vienna
4.     Czech Republic – Prague
5.     Netherlands – Amsterdam
6.     France – Paris, Cannes
7.     Monaco – Monte Carlo
8.     Vatican
9.     Croatia – Zagreb
10. Macedonia – Skopje
11. Slovakia – Bratislava
12. Germany – Berlin
13. Belgium- Brussels
14. Spain – Barcelona
15. Italy – Rome, Venice, and Pisa
16. Slovenia – Ljubljana, Lake of Bled
17. Bulgaria – Sofia

Every country and city was magnificent and we saw so many places in these (countries & cities). Our bus journey took 18 days and traveled about 10.000 km. This journey was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I will never forget it.
