BÖLÜM 6: BIRLESIK KRALLIK & IRLANDA CUMHURIYETI GEZISI–CAIRNRYAN, BELFAST & DUBLIN

Yeni bir güne otelimizde alacağımız keyifli bir kahvaltıyla başlıyoruz. İskoçya'nın tertemiz sabah havasını içimize çekerken, bugün bizi iki farklı ülkeye uzanan unutulmaz bir rota bekliyor. Kahvaltının ardından valizlerimizi hazırlıyor, otelden çıkış işlemlerimizi tamamlıyor ve İskoçya'nın batı kıyısındaki Cairnryan Limanı'na doğru yola çıkıyoruz.

Yaklaşık 2,5 saat sürecek bu yolculukta, Loch Ryan'ın huzur veren manzaraları ve Kuzey Atlantik'in etkileyici kıyıları adeta bize eşlik ediyor. Yol boyunca pencereden dışarı bakmayı ihmal etmeyin; İskoçya'nın doğası her kilometrede başka bir güzelliğini sunuyor. Cairnryan Limanı'na ulaştığımızda ise günün en keyifli deneyimlerinden biri başlıyor: feribot yolculuğu! Genellikle Stena Line feribotlarıyla gerçekleştirilen bu geçişte dilerseniz açık güverteye çıkıp yüzünüzü serin deniz rüzgârına bırakabilir, dilerseniz kafeteryada sıcak bir kahve eşliğinde Kuzey Kanalı'nın masmavi sularını seyredebilirsiniz. Ufukta beliren kıyılar ve martıların feribota eşlik ettiği anlar, hafızanızda uzun süre yer edecek.

Kısa ama oldukça keyifli deniz yolculuğunun ardından Kuzey İrlanda'nın başkenti Belfast'a ulaşıyoruz. Gümrük işlemleri genellikle oldukça hızlı ilerliyor ve kısa sürede şehrin keşfine başlıyoruz. 

Belfast, geçmişiyle yüzleşmeyi bilen ama geleceğe umutla bakan şehirlerden biri. İlk durağımız, görkemli mimarisiyle Stormont Parlamento Binası. Uzun giriş yolu ve etkileyici yapısıyla harika fotoğraflar yakalayabilirsiniz.

Ardından rotamızı şehrin simgelerinden biri olan Belfast City Hall'a çeviriyoruz. Viktorya döneminin zarafetini yansıtan bu görkemli yapı, yemyeşil bahçeleri, Titanic Anıtı ve barış anıtlarıyla ziyaretçilerini etkiliyor.

Belfast'ın yakın tarihine tanıklık etmek isteyenler için Peace Wall oldukça anlamlı bir durak. Bir zamanlar mahalleleri birbirinden ayıran bu duvar, bugün dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen ziyaretçilerin barış mesajlarıyla renklenmiş durumda. Buraya siz de küçük bir not bırakabilir, bu anlamlı hikâyenin bir parçası olabilirsiniz.

Şehrin hafif eğik yapısıyla dikkat çeken Albert Memorial Clock'u gördükten sonra, Belfast'ın tarihî ticaret bölgesi High Street boyunca keyifli bir yürüyüş yapıyoruz. Eğer denk gelirsek, St. George's Market'in rengârenk atmosferi bizi yerel lezzetler, el işi ürünler ve canlı müziklerle karşılıyor. Son olarak Romanesk mimarisiyle dikkat çeken St. Anne's Cathedral'i ziyaret ederek Belfast turumuzu tamamlıyoruz.

Şimdi rotamızı İrlanda Cumhuriyeti'nin başkenti Dublin'e çeviriyoruz. Yaklaşık 170 kilometrelik yol boyunca Newry ve Drogheda üzerinden ilerliyor, farkına bile varmadan iki ülke arasındaki sınırı geçiyoruz. Burada pasaport kontrolü yapılmıyor ve yolculuğumuz kesintisiz devam ediyor. Dublin, ilk andan itibaren sıcacık atmosferiyle insanı kendine çekiyor. Şehir turumuza, İrlanda Parlamentosu'na ev sahipliği yapan zarif Leinster House ile başlıyoruz. Ardından ülkenin köklü tarihine ışık tutan National Museum of Ireland'da Kelt kültüründen Orta Çağ'a uzanan zengin koleksiyonları keşfediyoruz.

Şehrin kalbi ise hiç kuşkusuz River Liffey. Nehir üzerinde uzanan meşhur Ha'Penny Bridge'de vereceğimiz kısa mola, Dublin'in en güzel fotoğraflarını çekmek için harika bir fırsat sunuyor. Dublin denince akla gelen ilk yerlerden biri de hiç şüphesiz Trinity College. Asırlık avlularında dolaşırken, dünyanın en etkileyici kütüphanelerinden biri olan Long Room'u ve ünlü Book of Kells koleksiyonunu görmek isteyenler için unutulmaz bir deneyim sizi bekliyor.

Şehrin enerjisini hissetmek için Grafton Street'e uğruyoruz. Sokak müzisyenlerinin melodileri, butik dükkânlar ve sıcacık kafeler burada yürüyüşü bambaşka bir keyfe dönüştürüyor. Ardından Oscar Wilde heykeliyle ünlü Merrion Square'in huzurlu atmosferinde kısa bir mola veriyoruz. Gotik mimarisiyle göz kamaştıran St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin'in en etkileyici yapılarından biri. Sonrasında O'Connell Street boyunca yürürken şehrin simgesi haline gelen dev Spire of Dublin'i görüyor, ardından rengârenk çiçekleri, göletleri ve kuğularıyla St. Stephen's Green Park'ta nefes alıyoruz.

Günün son duraklarından biri ise Famine Memorial oluyor. Büyük İrlanda Kıtlığı'nın izlerini taşıyan bronz heykeller, ziyaretçilerine tarihin en hüzünlü sayfalarından birini sessizce anlatıyor. Şehir turumuzun ardından Dublin'i kendi ritminizde keşfetmeniz için serbest zaman başlıyor. Eğer Dublin'in gerçek ruhunu hissetmek istiyorsanız, rotanızı mutlaka Temple Bar'a çevirin. Sokaklardan yükselen canlı İrlanda ezgileri, rengârenk publar ve tarihi atmosfer sizi bambaşka bir dünyaya götürecek.

Akşam ışıkları altında fotoğraf tutkunları için Dublin Castle büyüleyici kareler sunarken, modern mimarisiyle dikkat çeken Samuel Beckett Bridge gece aydınlatmasıyla şehrin en etkileyici manzaralarından birini oluşturuyor.

Bugün İskoçya'dan ayrılıp denizi aşarak Kuzey İrlanda'ya, oradan da İrlanda Cumhuriyeti'ne uzanan benzersiz bir yolculuğa tanıklık ettik. Aynı gün içinde üç farklı coğrafyanın kültürünü, tarihini ve atmosferini deneyimlemek ise bu rotayı unutulmaz kılan en güzel ayrıntılardan biri oluyor.

CHAPTER 6: UNITED KINGDOM & REPUBLIC OF IRELAND TRIP – CAIRNRYAN, BELFAST & DUBLIN

We begin the day with a delightful breakfast at our hotel, breathing in the crisp, refreshing Scottish morning air. Today promises to be a truly memorable journey, taking us across two different countries in a single day. After breakfast, we pack our bags, check out of the hotel, and set off for Cairnryan Harbour on Scotland's picturesque west coast. 

The drive takes around two and a half hours, accompanied by the tranquil scenery of Loch Ryan and the rugged coastline of the North Atlantic. Be sure to keep an eye on the view outside the window—Scotland reveals a different kind of beauty with every passing mile. Upon arriving at Cairnryan, one of the day's most enjoyable experiences begins: our ferry crossing. Usually operated by Stena Line, the journey offers the perfect opportunity to step out onto the open deck and enjoy the fresh sea breeze or relax with a hot coffee in the onboard café while admiring the sparkling waters of the North Channel. Watching the distant coastline emerge on the horizon as seagulls glide alongside the ferry is a moment you'll remember long after the journey is over. 

After this pleasant crossing, we arrive in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Customs procedures are generally quick and efficient, allowing us to begin exploring the city without delay. 

Belfast is a city that embraces its past while looking confidently toward the future. Our first stop is the impressive Stormont Parliament Buildings, whose grand architecture and sweeping approach make it an ideal location for memorable photographs. 

We then continue to Belfast City Hall, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. This magnificent example of Victorian architecture is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the Titanic Memorial, and monuments dedicated to peace, creating a setting that is both elegant and meaningful. 

For those interested in Belfast's modern history, the Peace Wall is an especially moving stop. Once built to separate Catholic and Protestant communities during times of conflict, today its walls are covered with colorful murals and messages of hope from visitors around the world. You may even wish to leave your own message as part of this ongoing story of peace. 

Our tour continues with the Albert Memorial Clock, affectionately known as Belfast's own "Leaning Tower" because of its slight tilt. From there, we enjoy a leisurely walk along High Street, one of the city's oldest commercial districts. If timing allows, we'll also visit St. George's Market, where local crafts, delicious food, and live music create an unforgettable atmosphere. Finally, we conclude our Belfast tour with a visit to St. Anne's Cathedral, admired for its striking Romanesque architecture and peaceful interior. 

Next, we continue south toward the Republic of Ireland and its vibrant capital, Dublin. Passing through Newry and Drogheda, we cross the border almost without noticing. There are no passport checks, allowing our journey to continue seamlessly. From the moment we arrive, Dublin welcomes us with its warm, friendly atmosphere. Our city tour begins at the elegant Leinster House, home to the Irish Parliament, before continuing to the National Museum of Ireland, where fascinating collections trace the country's history from the Celtic era through the Middle Ages. 

At the heart of the city flows the River Liffey. Our stop at the famous Ha'penny Bridge provides the perfect opportunity to capture some of Dublin's most iconic photographs while enjoying views of the river that divides the city. No visit to Dublin would be complete without Trinity College. As we stroll through its historic courtyards, those who wish can visit the world-famous Long Room Library and admire the priceless Book of Kells, one of Ireland's greatest cultural treasures. 

To experience the city's lively spirit, we make our way to Grafton Street. Filled with talented street musicians, charming boutiques, and welcoming cafés, this bustling pedestrian avenue perfectly captures Dublin's vibrant character. A short break in Merrion Square, home to the famous Oscar Wilde statue, offers a peaceful contrast to the lively streets nearby. Our exploration continues at the magnificent St. Patrick's Cathedral, whose stunning Gothic architecture makes it one of Dublin's most impressive landmarks. We then walk along O'Connell Street to admire the towering Spire of Dublin before enjoying a relaxing stroll through St. Stephen's Green, where colorful flowerbeds, elegant swans, and tranquil ponds create an oasis in the heart of the city. 

One of the most thought-provoking stops of the day is the Famine Memorial. The haunting bronze sculptures commemorate the Great Irish Famine and quietly tell one of the most poignant chapters in Ireland's history. After our guided tour, you'll have free time to discover Dublin at your own pace. If you'd like to experience the true spirit of the city, make your way to the famous Temple Bar district. Its lively pubs, traditional Irish music, and colorful streets create an atmosphere that is both welcoming and unforgettable. 

As evening falls, Dublin Castle offers beautiful photo opportunities beneath its illuminated walls, while the elegant Samuel Beckett Bridge becomes one of the city's most spectacular sights, glowing against the night sky. 

Today has taken us on an extraordinary journey—from Scotland, across the sea to Northern Ireland, and onward into the Republic of Ireland. Experiencing three distinct regions, each with its own history, culture, and unique atmosphere, all in a single day is what makes this remarkable adventure truly unforgettable.
