Hello, travel-lovers! On this leg of our Northern
Europe journey with Eyobus, we find ourselves in Norway — a country that wins
hearts not only with its stunning natural beauty, but also with its peaceful
cities and safe, calm way of life. Even the air here seems to make you happier;
we instantly understood why Norway ranks so high on global happiness lists.
This part of our route takes us through Flåm, Bergen, and Stavanger. Come along as we explore these cities where nature and history blend perfectly!
Flåm: A Tiny Paradise in the Heart of the Fjords
Flåm is a small village in Norway’s Sogn og Fjordane region,
surrounded by steep valleys and untouched nature. The moment we arrived, we
felt as though we had stepped into a fairytale.
Nærøyfjord — a branch of Sognefjord, the world’s second-longest and
second-deepest fjord — is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an absolute must-see
while you're here.
Flåm’s world-famous railway is another unforgettable
experience. We didn’t forget to sit on the right side of the train — the views
were absolutely breathtaking!
What we did in Flåm:
• Hiked through mountain trails and enjoyed pure, untouched nature
• Captured tons of landscape photos — it’s a paradise for nature photographers
• Visited the Flåm Railway Museum (free entry, plus a great souvenir shop)
• Joined a boat tour on Nærøyfjord and were mesmerized by the fjord’s magic
Flåm is truly one of Norway’s hidden gems — time simply flies here.
Bergen: The City of Seven Mountains and Fjords
After leaving Flåm, we reached Bergen, Norway’s second-largest
city on the west coast, embraced by mountains and fjords. The historic Bryggen
Wharf, with its colorful wooden buildings, stone streets, and sea views, made
us feel like we were walking inside a painting.
Our favorite stops in Bergen:
• Took the Fløibanen funicular to admire the panoramic view of the seven
mountains and fjords
• Rode the Ulriken cable car to the top and captured amazing photos
• Visited Gamlehaugen, the King’s official residence — full of aristocratic
charm
• Explored Bergen Cathedral, both for its history and memorable evening
concerts
• Joined fjord tours (about 3–3.5 hours) to discover the stunning natural
surroundings
Exploring Bergen felt like wandering through a fairytale city — every corner held a new surprise.
Stavanger: History, Oil, and Nature
Our final stop was Stavanger, Norway’s fourth-largest city,
where modern life blends beautifully with historical charm. The city boasts one
of Europe’s largest collections of wooden houses, many dating back to the 18th
and 19th centuries.
Our experiences in Stavanger:
• Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock): A 604-meter cliff with a jaw-dropping view — even without a fear of heights, the scene left us breathless!
• Lysefjord: We admired spectacular landscapes on a boat tour
• Explored Stavanger Cathedral and the Old Stavanger district
• Visited the Norwegian Petroleum Museum and the Maritime Museum
• Relaxed with a short break at Sola Beach
Stavanger is easily one of Norway’s most captivating cities, offering both history and incredible natural beauty.
